IMIS Research

International migration movements und their consequences are to be seen as processes of Wechselwirkung, as transnational or multilocal phenomena that arise in the global society under various conditions of political/legal and social/institutional interventions and efforts of regulation. Against this background, the current and future research focus of IMIS is on the migration process as such, well as on its starting conditions, forms of production, appearance as well as its manifold consequences. Therefore, research interests and research projects at IMIS are currently concentrated in three fields:

Migration regimes
Flight and refugees: conditions, forms, and consequences of forced migration
Potentials of migration and diversity
